The Jansz-Io field, part of the Gorgon LNG development on Australia's North West Shelf, is among the largest subsea gas developments in the world. Grispen was engaged through SAIPEM to design the installation aids for the field's Subsea Flushing and Testing Manifold, a piece of temporary subsea hardware used during commissioning operations before the manifold enters permanent service.
Installation aids for deepwater subsea hardware must perform two distinct functions reliably: a mounting table that holds the manifold in the correct orientation during installation, and a locking system that secures it once landed. Both elements need to function correctly first time, with no opportunity for in-situ adjustment at depth, and must be engineered for safe ROV intervention if recovery is required.
Grispen's installation engineering team designed both the mounting table and the locking system as discrete, fully engineered installation aid packages. Each was developed with full consideration of the landing dynamics, ROV interface requirements, and the structural load path during both installation and any subsequent recovery operation, directly relevant to Grispen Australia's North West Shelf operating context from our Perth base.
