Coral FLNG: Topsides Seafastening Engineering

Coral FLNG demonstrates that Grispen's seafastening engineering methodology scales from small subsea components through to some of the largest floating LNG topsides modules ever transported, the same rigorous DNV-ST-N001 approach applied consistently regardless of cargo scale.

Project Overview

Coral FLNG is one of the world's first deepwater floating LNG facilities, developed by ENI offshore Mozambique. Grispen delivered seafastening engineering for the heavy marine transport of Coral FLNG's topsides modules, among the largest and most valuable cargo items in any of our seafastening track record.

The Engineering Challenge

Challenge

FLNG topsides modules are enormous, high-value structures, often weighing several thousand tonnes, transported on heavy lift vessels across open ocean routes. The seafastening engineering must account for the full vessel motion envelope at these scales, while ensuring the seafastening structural elements themselves do not compromise the topsides' process equipment or structural integrity.

Grispen's Solution

Solution

Grispen's seafastening engineering team developed the structural seafastening design for the FLNG topsides heavy transport operation, applying DNV-ST-N001 marine operations methodology at a scale consistent with one of the LNG industry's flagship floating facility projects, a strong demonstration of our seafastening engineering capability at the upper end of project scale.

Scope of Work Delivered

  • FLNG topsides heavy transport seafastening design
  • Vessel motion and acceleration envelope analysis
  • Seafastening structural element design (DNV-ST-N001)
  • Interface coordination with topsides structural design

Our Delivery Process

Every Grispen engineering scope, regardless of size or client, passes through the same structured five-stage delivery method, ensuring consistent quality and full traceability from kick-off to final issue.
